Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.


On that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.


Thus you shall do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of purification on them; have them shave their whole body with a razor and wash their clothes and so cleanse themselves.


“I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.


Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us,


Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.


When they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.


And now why do you delay? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.’


You have no part or share in this, for your heart is not right before God.


And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.


Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.


And we want each one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end,


(for the law made nothing perfect); there is, on the other hand, the introduction of a better hope through which we approach God.


but deal only with food and drink and various baptisms, regulations for the body imposed until the time comes to set things right.

But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
