All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, blessing each one of them with a suitable blessing.


All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer, according to the promise of God to exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.


Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.


See, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.


This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, “bowing in worship over the top of his staff.”


In due time Hannah conceived and bore a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I have asked him of the Lord.”


For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me the petition that I made to him.
