When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the region, saw her, he seized her and lay with her by force.


So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this girl to be my wife.”


So have no fear; I myself will provide for you and your little ones.” In this way he reassured them, speaking kindly to them.


So go out at once and speak kindly to your servants, for I swear by the Lord, if you do not go, not a man will stay with you this night, and this will be worse for you than any disaster that has come upon you from your youth until now.”

When David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was bound to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
