Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.


for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.


Rise up, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.”


“I am a stranger and an alien residing among you; give me property among you for a burying place, so that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”


And that very night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you and make your offspring numerous for my servant Abraham’s sake.”


May he give to you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your offspring with you, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, land that God gave to Abraham.”


Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac had resided as aliens.


For their possessions were too great for them to live together; the land where they were staying could not support them because of their livestock.


Jacob settled in the land where his father had lived as an alien, the land of Canaan.


and said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and increase your numbers; I will make of you a company of peoples and will give this land to your offspring after you for a perpetual holding.’


Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire?


saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”


But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,


saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”


the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,


“When the Lord has brought you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and your ancestors, and has given it to you,


then his master shall bring him before God. He shall be brought to the door or the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve him for life.


I will dwell among the Israelites, and I will be their God.


Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, how you swore to them by your own self, saying to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”


and anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may serve me as priests; their anointing shall admit them to a perpetual priesthood throughout all their generations.”


I also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they resided as aliens.


I will take you as my people, and I will be your God. You shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has freed you from the burdens of the Egyptians.


when they said, “Turn now, every one of you, from your evil way and wicked doings, and you will remain on the land that the Lord has given to you and your ancestors from of old and forever;


At that time, says the Lord, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.


so that they may follow my statutes and keep my ordinances and obey them. Then they shall be my people, and I will be their God.


Mortal, the inhabitants of these waste places in the land of Israel keep saying, “Abraham was only one man, yet he got possession of the land, but we are many; the land is surely given us to possess.”


“When you come into the land of Canaan, which I give you for a possession, and I put a defiling disease in a house in the land of your possession,


This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the Israelites once in the year for all their sins.” And Moses did as the Lord had commanded him.


I will be your God, and you shall be my people.


and I will bring them to live in Jerusalem. They shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.”


Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’s father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you’; come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good to Israel.”


It shall be for him and for his descendants after him a covenant of perpetual priesthood, because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the Israelites.’ ”


The Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range, and see the land that I have given to the Israelites.


He did not give him any of it as a heritage, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as his possession and to his descendants after him, even though he had no child.


For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; it is you the Lord has chosen out of all the peoples on earth to be his people, his treasured possession.


Today the Lord has obtained your agreement: to be his treasured people, as he promised you, and to keep all his commandments;


in order that he may establish you today as his people and that he may be your God, as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.


“Ascend this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites for a possession;


When the Most High apportioned the nations, when he divided humankind, he fixed the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the gods;


The Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.”


And because he loved your ancestors, he chose their descendants after them. He brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power,


It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to occupy their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is dispossessing them before you, in order to fulfill the promise that the Lord made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.


For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, because a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.


“My servant Moses is dead. Now proceed to cross the Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the Israelites.


Those who conquer will inherit these things, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.
