17 For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want.

Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

And he said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death!”


and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial.”


What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.


for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.


Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could make alive, then righteousness would indeed come through the law.


For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is mature, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.
