Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One woman, in fact, is Hagar, from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery.


But the other woman corresponds to the Jerusalem above; she is free, and she is our mother.


He said, “The Lord came from Sinai and dawned from Seir upon us; he shone forth from Mount Paran. With him were myriads of holy ones, at his right, a host of his own.


You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,


The mountains quaked before the Lord, the One of Sinai, before the Lord, the God of Israel.
