Ezekiel 6:9 - New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition 2021

9 Your survivors shall remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I was crushed by their wanton heart that turned away from me and their wanton eyes that turned after their idols. Then they will be loathsome in their own sight for the evils that they have committed, for all their abominations.

You survivors of the sword, go; do not linger! Remember the Lord in a distant land, and let Jerusalem come into your mind:


But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, so that they may tell of all their abominations among the nations where they go; then they shall know that I am the Lord.


Because you have not remembered the days of your youth but have enraged me with all these things, therefore I have returned your deeds upon your head, says the Lord God. Have you not committed lewdness beyond all your abominations?


Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your older and younger sisters and I give them to you as daughters, but not on account of my covenant with you.


in order that you may remember and be confounded and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I forgive you all that you have done, says the Lord God.


because they had not executed my ordinances but had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were set on their ancestors’ idols.


For when I had brought them into the land that I swore to give them, then wherever they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices and presented the provocation of their offering; there they sent up their pleasing odors, and there they poured out their drink offerings.


There you shall remember your ways and all the deeds by which you have polluted yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves for all the evils that you have committed.

have brought this upon you, because you prostituted yourself with the nations and polluted yourself with their idols.


“My anger shall spend itself, and I will vent my fury on them and satisfy myself, and they shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy when I spend my fury on them.


And they shall know that I am the Lord; I did not threaten in vain to bring this disaster upon them.


If any survivors escape, they shall be found on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning over their iniquity.


How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.


So, I will press you down in your place, just as a cart presses down when it is full of sheaves.


and I will cut off your images and your pillars from among you, and you shall bow down no more to the work of your hands;


Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and they shall rear their children and return.


You have the fringe so that, when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them and not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.


They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!
