For you, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house’; therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.


Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had planned to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for building.


“And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart, for the Lord searches every mind and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will abandon you forever.


“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.


Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God:


Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, into the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.


Then the people rejoiced because these had given willingly, for with single mind they had offered freely to the Lord; King David also rejoiced greatly.


As soon as they came to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of families made freewill offerings for the house of God, to erect it on its site.


Blessed be the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who put such a thing as this into the heart of the king to glorify the house of the Lord in Jerusalem


Your people will offer themselves willingly on the day you lead your forces on the holy mountains. From the womb of the morning, like dew, your youth will come to you.


“Tell the Israelites to take for me an offering; from all whose hearts prompt them to give you shall receive the offering for me.


Then all the congregation of the Israelites withdrew from the presence of Moses.


So they came, both men and women; all who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and pendants, all sorts of gold objects, everyone bringing an offering of gold to the Lord.

All the Israelite men and women whose hearts made them willing to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.


Take from among you an offering to the Lord; let whoever is of a generous heart bring the Lord’s offering: gold, silver, and bronze;


Moses then called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord had given skill, everyone whose heart was stirred to come to do the work,


Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.


Their prince shall be one of their own; their ruler shall come from their midst; I will bring him near, and he shall approach me, for who would otherwise dare to approach me? says the Lord.


You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.


For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.


Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not regretfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.


Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, utter a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives, O son of Abinoam.


Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the Lord I will sing; I will make melody to the Lord, the God of Israel.


My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the Lord.
