The king said, “And where is your master’s son?” Ziba said to the king, “He remains in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will give me back my grandfather’s kingdom.’ ”


He has slandered your servant to my lord the king. But my lord the king is like the angel of God; do therefore what seems good to you.


One who secretly slanders a neighbor I will destroy. A haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not tolerate.


What shall be given to you? And what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue?


who do not slander with their tongue and do no evil to their friends nor heap shame upon their neighbors;


Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen against me, and they are breathing out violence.


Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me about things I do not know.


“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.


Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and those in the right, for I will not acquit the guilty.


Lying lips conceal hatred, and whoever utters slander is a fool.


Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness speaks deceitfully.


A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.


An evildoer listens to wicked lips, and a liar gives heed to a mischievous tongue.


A worthless witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.


A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will not escape.


A false witness will not go unpunished, and the liar will perish.


A false witness will perish, but a good listener will testify successfully.


Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.

He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness.


Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.”


Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what should we do?” He said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”


“Our law does not judge people without first giving them a hearing to find out what they are doing, does it?”


And why not say (as some people slander us by saying that we say), “Let us do evil so that good may come”? Their judgment is deserved!


So then, putting away falsehood, let each of you speak the truth with your neighbor, for we are members of one another.


“ ‘Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor.


unfeeling, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good,


yet do it with gentleness and respect. Maintain a good conscience so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.


Then I heard a loud voice in heaven proclaiming, “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
