“Whoever kidnaps a person, whether that person has been sold or is still held in possession, shall be put to death.


A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but an accurate weight is his delight.


“You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; and you shall not lie to one another.


“You shall not defraud your neighbor; you shall not steal; and you shall not keep for yourself the wages of a laborer until morning.


They do not know how to do right, says the Lord, those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.


Their hands are skilled to do evil; the official and the judge ask for a bribe, and the powerful dictate what they desire; thus they pervert justice.


For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not murder; you shall not steal; you shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”


thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, swindlers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God.


Those who steal must give up stealing; rather, let them labor, doing good work with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy.
