In the reign of Ahasuerus, in his accession year, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

For from the top of the crags I see him; from the hills I behold him. Here is a people living alone and not reckoning itself among the nations!


The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?


We have, in fact, found this man a pestilent fellow, an agitator among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.


But we would like to hear from you what you think, for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against.”


then the Lord your God will return you from your captivity and have compassion on you, gathering you again from all the peoples among whom the Lord your God has scattered you.


I said, “I will make an end of them and blot out the memory of them from humankind,”


The Lord will scatter you among the peoples; only a few of you will be left among the nations where the Lord will lead you.
