All his sons and all his daughters sought to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, “No, I shall go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” Thus his father bewailed him.


Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God. Go and build the sanctuary of the Lord God so that the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God may be brought into the house built for the name of the Lord.”


David said further to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and act. Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.


Then I got up during the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. The only animal I took was the animal I rode.


He said in the presence of his associates and of the army of Samaria, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore it by themselves? Will they offer sacrifice? Will they finish it in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish—burned ones at that?”


So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.


before I go, never to return, to the land of gloom and deep darkness,


the land of gloom and chaos, where light is like darkness.’ ”


They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol.


For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who can give you praise?


Do not say to your neighbor, “Go and come again; tomorrow I will give it,” when you have it with you.


When clouds are full, they empty rain on the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.


In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hands be idle, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.


I said: In the noontide of my days I must depart; I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years.


When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart,


But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”


They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard.’


But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.


Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.


We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.


Do not lag in zeal; be ardent in spirit; serve the Lord.


But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I but the grace of God that is with me.


If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am;


Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it.


So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air,


making the most of the time, because the days are evil.


Whatever task you must do, work as if your soul depends on it, as for the Lord and not for humans,


Now when these signs meet you, do whatever you see fit to do, for God is with you.
