Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight; none was left but the tribe of Judah alone.

From the days of our ancestors to this day we have been deep in guilt, and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been handed over to the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering, and to utter shame, as is now the case.


But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah


I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,


but the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.


It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.


If you will only remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you and not pluck you up, for I am sorry for the disaster that I have brought upon you.


But it was plucked up in fury, cast down to the ground; the east wind dried it up; its fruit was stripped off; its strong stem was withered; the fire consumed it.


Now it is transplanted into the wilderness, into a dry and thirsty land.


He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.


“Righteousness is on your side, O Lord, but open shame, as at this day, falls on us, the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them because of the treachery that they have committed against you.


“The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out against them one way and flee before them seven ways. You shall become an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation that neither you nor your ancestors have known, where you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone.


The Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.


“When all these things have happened to you, the blessings and the curses that I have set before you, if you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you


Is not this laid up in store with me, sealed up in my treasuries,


The Lord will scatter you among the peoples; only a few of you will be left among the nations where the Lord will lead you.


Then the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our lasting good, so as to keep us alive, as is now the case.


But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today.
