So he went with them. When they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.


They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and with all their soul,


Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be the Lord’s people.


We will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons,


A mixed crowd also went up with them and livestock in great numbers, both flocks and herds.


You took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. As if your prostitutions were not enough!


The camp followers with them had a strong craving, and the Israelites also wept again and said, “If only we had meat to eat!


There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.


“You stand assembled today, all of you, before the Lord your God—the leaders of your tribes, your elders, and your officials, all the men of Israel,


to enter into the covenant of the Lord your God, sworn by an oath, which the Lord your God is making with you today,


But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, or your son or your daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or your donkey, or any of your livestock, or the resident alien in your towns, so that your male and female slave may rest as well as you.


In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, enslaved and free, but Christ is all and in all!


So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day and made statutes and ordinances for them at Shechem.


There was not a word of all that Moses commanded that Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, and the women, and the little ones, and the aliens who resided among them.
