Moreover, you led them by day with a pillar of cloud and by night with a pillar of fire, to give them light on the way in which they should go.


He spread a cloud for a covering and fire to give light by night.


You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.


In the daytime he led them with a cloud and all night long with a fiery light.


At the morning watch the Lord, in the pillar of fire and cloud, looked down on the Egyptian army and threw the Egyptian army into a panic.


Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest,


On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most glorious of all lands.


For I will be a wall of fire all around it, says the Lord, and I will be the glory within it.”


So they set out from the mount of the Lord three days’ journey with the ark of the covenant of the Lord going before them three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them,


and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people, for you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them and you go in front of them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
