Listen to me, you who know righteousness, you people who have my teaching in your hearts; do not fear the reproach of others, and do not be dismayed when they revile you.


I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my whole being shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.


my servants shall sing with gladness of heart, but you shall cry out in pain of heart and shall wail in anguish of spirit.


Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: Your own people who hate you and reject you for my name’s sake have said, “Let the Lord be glorified, so that we may see your joy,” but it is they who shall be put to shame.


“Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.


But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.


Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”


When they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and went on with their teaching. When the high priest and those with him arrived, they called together the council and the whole body of the elders of Israel and sent to the prison to have them brought.


And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance,


Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.


For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ but of suffering for him as well,


For you had compassion for those who were in prison, and you cheerfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you yourselves possessed something better and more lasting.


looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.


My brothers and sisters, whenever you face various trials, consider it all joy,


for they began their journey for the sake of Christ, accepting no support from nonbelievers.
