When our enemies heard that their plot was known to us and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his work.


No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.

Who can command and have it done, if the Lord has not ordained it?

Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin? Answer me.”


If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation.”


Then he said to them, “Fellow Israelites, consider carefully what you propose to do to these men.


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,”
