Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”


And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of dishonest wealth so that when it is gone they may welcome you into the eternal homes.

The disciples determined that, according to their ability, each would send relief to the brothers and sisters living in Judea;


There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold.


They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

As it is written, “He scatters abroad; he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”


How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?
