Truly, with stammering lip and with another tongue he will speak to this people,

But I am full of the wrath of the Lord; I am weary of holding it in. Pour it out on the children in the street and on the gatherings of young men as well; both husband and wife shall be taken, the elderly and those full of days.


then go to the exiles, to your people, and speak to them. Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they hear or refuse to hear.”


But as for me, I am filled with power, with the spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.


When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you at that time,


And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;


for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He must never drink wine or strong drink; even before his birth he will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task,


What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, together with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.


Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.


But filled with the Holy Spirit, he gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.


Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.


So Ananias went and entered the house. He laid his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”


May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.


to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.


If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.


Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.


I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you;


Now I would like all of you to speak in tongues but even more to prophesy. One who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.


and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.


Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,


Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.


It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in regard to the things that have now been announced to you through those who brought you good news by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look!


because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.


So Eli said to her, “How long will you make a drunken spectacle of yourself? Put away your wine.”


When they were going from there to Gibeah, a band of prophets met him, and the spirit of God possessed him, and he fell into a prophetic frenzy along with them.
