If I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own exorcists cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.


But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I put you under oath before the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”


and he shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”


John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us.”


Now if I cast out the demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your exorcists cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.


John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he does not follow with us.”


Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this.


For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.


Joshua then pronounced this oath, saying, “Cursed before the Lord be anyone who tries to build this city, Jericho! At the cost of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and at the cost of his youngest he shall set up its gates!”


Now Saul committed a very rash act on that day. He had laid an oath on the troops, saying, “Cursed be anyone who eats food before it is evening and I have been avenged on my enemies.” So none of the troops tasted food.
