Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?


A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.


There will, however, be no one in need among you, because the Lord is sure to bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you as a possession to occupy,


“I know your affliction and your poverty, even though you are rich. I know the slander on the part of those who say that they are Jews and are not but are a synagogue of Satan.


as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing everything.


Through the testing of this ministry you glorify God by your obedience to the confession of the gospel of Christ and by the generosity of your partnership with them and with all others,


And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for in spite of persecution you received the word with joy from the Holy Spirit,


the encourager, in encouragement; the giver, in sincerity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.


For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you suffered the same things from your own compatriots as they did from the Jews


You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us,


Indeed, this is our boast, the testimony of our conscience: we have behaved in the world with holiness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God—and all the more toward you.


Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?’


Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?


I wrote for this reason: to test you and to know whether you are obedient in everything.
