For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.


Now, however, that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental principles? How can you want to be enslaved to them again?


So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental principles of the world.


I do not mean to imply that we lord it over your faith; rather, we are workers with you for your joy because you stand firm in faith.


If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt.

I gave my back to those who struck me and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I did not hide my face from insult and spitting.

It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who try to compel you to be circumcised—only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.


I am confident about you in the Lord that you will not think otherwise. But whoever it is that is confusing you will pay the penalty.


Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

Be that as it may, I did not burden you. But, crafty person that I am, did I take you in by deceit?
