I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him.


I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the harp.


May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts.


Long may he live! May gold of Sheba be given to him. May prayer be made for him continually and blessings invoked for him all day long.


I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,


to understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles.


A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come. They shall bring gold and frankincense and shall proclaim the praise of the Lord.


You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.


The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and indeed something greater than Solomon is here!


He answered, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.


This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth to speak in parables; I will proclaim what has been hidden since the foundation.”


On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.


The queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and indeed, something greater than Solomon is here!


But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman deeply troubled; I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the Lord.
