When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the Lord today, who has given to David a wise son to be over this great people.”


Then David said to the whole assembly, “Bless the Lord your God.” And all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and bowed their heads and prostrated themselves before the Lord and the king.


Solomon decided to build a temple for the name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself.


“I have dispatched Huram-abi, a skilled artisan endowed with understanding,


Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.


Because of my loud groaning, my bones cling to my skin.


Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.


By the word of the Lord the heavens were made and all their host by the breath of his mouth.


But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.


“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has looked favorably on his people and redeemed them.


“People, why are you doing this? We are mortals just like you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.


When they heard it, they raised their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and everything in them,


Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead


and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will be no more delay,


“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
