9 Have you not driven out the priests of the Lord, the descendants of Aaron, and the Levites and made priests for yourselves like the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes to be consecrated with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of what are no gods.

Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for something that does not profit.


How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me and have sworn by those who are no gods. When I fed them to the full, they committed adultery and trooped to the houses of prostitutes.


For it is from Israel, an artisan made it; it is not God. The calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.


The priest who is anointed and consecrated as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement, wearing the linen vestments, the holy vestments.

You also see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost the whole of Asia this Paul has persuaded and drawn away a considerable number of people by saying that gods made with hands are not gods.


Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods.


They sacrificed to demons, not God, to deities they had never known, to new ones recently arrived, whom your ancestors had not feared.
