Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the laborer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house.


I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”


Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.


In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”


Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord.


Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you.


And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues.


But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I but the grace of God that is with me.


I urge you to put yourselves at the service of such people and of everyone who works and toils with them.


for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. So give recognition to such persons.


For we are God’s coworkers, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.


Are they ministers of Christ? I am talking like a madman—I am a better one: with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless floggings, and often near death.


So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him.


As we work together with him, we entreat you also not to accept the grace of God in vain.


I am afraid that my work for you may have been wasted.


holding forth the word of life so that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.


I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I, too, may be consoled by news of you.


For this I toil and strive with all the energy that he powerfully inspires within me.


You remember our labor and toil, brothers and sisters; we worked night and day so that we might not burden any of you while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.


Finally, brothers and sisters, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus that, as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God (as, in fact, you are doing), you should do so more and more.


And we urge you, brothers and sisters, to admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.


Do not speak harshly to an older man, but speak to him as to a father, to younger men as brothers,


As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest also may stand in fear.


It is the farmer who does the work who ought to have the first share of the crops.


in due time he revealed his word through the proclamation with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior,


I left you behind in Crete for this reason, so that you should put in order what remained to be done and should appoint elders in every town, as I directed you:


Declare these things; exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one look down on you.


Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sighing, for that would be harmful to you.


Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.


As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.


“And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword:


“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze:


I also know that you are enduring and bearing up for the sake of my name and that you have not grown weary.
