Then Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be on you! I gave my slave to your embrace, and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked on me with contempt. May the Lord judge between you and me!”


On the sixth day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done.


But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.


Then the spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said, “We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to the one who helps you! For your God is the one who helps you.” Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.


How forceful are honest words! But your reproof, what does it reprove?


Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise.


A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.


A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.


for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.


But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.


It is not I who have sinned against you, but you are the one who does me wrong by making war on me. Let the Lord, who is judge, decide today for the Israelites or for the Ammonites.”


Saul recognized David’s voice and said, “Is this your voice, my son David?” David said, “It is my voice, my lord, O king.”


As your life was precious today in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the Lord, and may he rescue me from all tribulation.”
