Nevertheless, I will not take the whole kingdom away from him but will make him ruler all the days of his life, for the sake of my servant David whom I chose and who did keep my commandments and my statutes,


If you will listen to all that I command you, walk in my ways, and do what is right in my sight by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, I will be with you and will build you an enduring house, as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.


For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.


So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not completely follow the Lord, as his father David had done.


For they also built for themselves high places, pillars, and sacred poles on every high hill and under every green tree;


and tore the kingdom away from the house of David to give it to you, yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with all his heart, doing only that which was right in my sight,


Asa did what was right in the sight of the Lord, as his father David had done.


But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was true to the Lord all his days.


He committed all the sins that his father did before him; his heart was not true to the Lord his God, like the heart of his father David.

Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.


If you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your life.”


And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant my father David because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you, and you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne today.


Therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, keep for your servant my father David that which you promised him, saying, ‘There shall never fail you a successor before me to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children look to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’


Therefore devote yourselves completely to the Lord our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”


As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my ordinances,

Jehoash said to the priests, “All the silver offered as sacred donations that is brought into the house of the Lord—the census tax, personal redemption payments, and silver from voluntary offerings brought into the house of the Lord—


He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not like his ancestor David; in all things he did as his father Joash had done.

The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.


Love the Lord, all you his saints. The Lord preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily.


This is in order that the Israelites may bring their sacrifices that they offer in the open field, that they may bring them to the Lord, to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and offer them as sacrifices of well-being to the Lord.


He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’


“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.


They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me, and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”


We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.


but anyone who loves God is known by him.


“So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,


and to keep the commandments of the Lord and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being.


“If you will only heed his every commandment that I am commanding you today—loving the Lord your God and serving him with all your heart and with all your soul—


If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.


loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him, for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”


“Moreover, the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, in order that you may live.


You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.


Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.


Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?


They answered, “Yes, there he is just ahead of you. Hurry; he has come just now to the town because the people have a sacrifice today at the shrine.
