Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, which is now the city of David.


King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women,


Then David slept with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David.


In the four hundred eightieth year after the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build the house of the Lord.


Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished his entire house.


His own house where he would reside, in the other court back of the hall, was of the same construction. Solomon also made a house like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken in marriage.


When Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord and the king’s house and all that Solomon desired to build,


At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king’s house,


But Pharaoh’s daughter went up from the city of David to her own house that Solomon had built for her; then he built the Millo.


David resided in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.


Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor, and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab.


Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter from the city of David to the house that he had built for her, for he said, “My wife shall not live in the house of King David of Israel, for the places to which the ark of the Lord has come are holy.”


This was their reply to us: ‘We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the house that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.


shall we break your commandments again and intermarry with the peoples who practice these abominations? Would you not be angry with us until you destroy us without remnant or survivor?


The children of the third generation that are born to them may come into the assembly of the Lord.
