This matter became sin to the house of Jeroboam, so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.


So Baasha killed Nadab in the third year of King Asa of Judah and succeeded him.


When he began to reign, as soon as he had seated himself on his throne, he killed all the house of Baasha; he did not leave him a single male of his kindred or his friends.


therefore I will consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat.


Moreover, the word of the Lord came by the prophet Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha and his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and also because he destroyed it.

But Jehu was not careful to follow the law of the Lord the God of Israel with all his heart; he did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam that he caused Israel to commit.


Have you not heard that I determined it long ago? I planned from days of old what now I bring to pass, that you should make fortified cities crash into heaps of ruins,
