1 Kings 12:32 - New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition 2021

32 Jeroboam appointed a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like the festival that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar; so he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.

A man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel, while Jeroboam was standing by the altar to offer incense.


Even after this event Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way but made priests for the high places again from among all the people; any who wanted to be priests he consecrated for the high places.


All the people of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the festival in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.


King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.


When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it, and Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a festival to the Lord.”

This man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and teraphim and installed one of his sons, who became his priest.
