While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”


When the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting,


But the residents of the city were divided: some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.


That night the Lord stood near him and said, “Keep up your courage! For just as you have testified for me in Jerusalem, so you must bear witness also in Rome.”


But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel;


So Ananias went and entered the house. He laid his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”


Now as he was going along and approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.


He asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.


Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,


through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the gentiles for the sake of his name,


Now I am speaking to you gentiles. Inasmuch as I am an apostle to the gentiles, I celebrate my ministry


Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,


I mean the other’s conscience, not your own. For why should my freedom be subject to the judgment of someone else’s conscience?


If I partake with thankfulness, why should I be denounced because of that for which I give thanks?


But if anyone is disposed to be contentious—we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.


I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.


For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might gain all the more.


Look at what is before your eyes. If you are confident that you belong to Christ, remind yourself of this, that just as you belong to Christ, so also do we.


I think that I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.


As we work together with him, we entreat you also not to accept the grace of God in vain.


Paul an apostle—sent neither by human commission nor from human authorities but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—


For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
