On that day the Egyptians will be like women and tremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts raises against them.


After Paul and Silas had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.


After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.


But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him before the tribunal.


When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the gentiles.”


I myself, Paul, appeal to you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you but bold toward you when I am away!—


For someone says, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak and his speech contemptible.”


For he was crucified in weakness but lives by the power of God. For we are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.


For we rejoice when we are weak but you are strong. This is what we pray for, that you may be restored.


Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart.


So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.


but as servants of God we have commended ourselves in every way: in great endurance, afflictions, hardships, calamities,


And his heart goes out all the more to you, as he remembers the obedience of all of you and how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.


For even when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted in every way—disputes without and fears within.


Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and trembling, in singleness of heart, as you obey Christ,
