If your brother or sister is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Do not let what you eat cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died.


So with yourselves: since you are striving after spiritual gifts, seek to excel in them for building up the church.


For you may give thanks well enough, but the other person is not built up.


What should be done then, my brothers and sisters? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.


“All things are permitted for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are permitted for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.


Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.


But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.


Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves before you? We are speaking in Christ before God. Everything we do, beloved, is for the sake of building you up.


Let no evil talk come out of your mouths but only what is good for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.


Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.


and not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the divine training that is known by faith.
