Go in at once to King David and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Your son Solomon shall succeed me as king, and he shall sit on my throne?” Why then is Adonijah king?’


He said, “You know that the kingdom was mine and that all Israel expected me to reign; however, the kingdom has turned about and become my brother’s, for it was his from the Lord.


And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, although I am only a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.


Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea; they ate and drank and were happy.


For he had dominion over all the region west of the Euphrates, and he had peace on all sides.


During Solomon’s lifetime Judah and Israel lived in safety, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all of them under their vines and fig trees.


But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor misfortune.


“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel according to all that he promised; not one word has failed of all his good promise that he spoke through his servant Moses.
