When the Ammonites saw that they had become odious to David, the Ammonites sent and hired the Arameans of Beth-rehob and the Arameans of Zobah, twenty thousand foot soldiers, as well as the king of Maacah, one thousand men, and the men of Tob, twelve thousand men.


David also struck down the king of Zobah, Hadadezer son of Rehob, as he went to restore his monument at the River Euphrates.


He defeated Moab, and the Moabites became subject to David and brought tribute.


David took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand cavalry, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. David hamstrung all the chariot horses but left one hundred of them.


Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and captured it.


Jerusalem has had mighty kings who ruled over the whole province Beyond the River, to whom tribute, custom, and toll were paid.


O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; now restore us!


You have caused the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair the cracks in it, for it is tottering.


I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines and from the wilderness to the Euphrates, for I will hand over to you the inhabitants of the land, and you shall drive them out before you.


When Saul had taken the kingship over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side: against Moab, against the Ammonites, against Edom, against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines; wherever he turned he routed them.
