So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.


Then the king consulted the sages who knew the laws (for this was the king’s procedure toward all who were versed in law and custom,


he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.

Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between the sheepfolds;


The voice of the Lord cries to the city (and he shall save those who fear his name): Hear, O tribe and assembly of the city!


Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one bungler destroys much good.


Of the half-tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were expressly named to come and make David king.


A firstborn bull—majesty is his! His horns are the horns of a wild ox; with them he gores the peoples all together to the ends of the earth; such are the myriads of Ephraim, such the thousands of Manasseh.”


and along with them, by their generations, according to their ancestral houses, were units of the fighting force, thirty-six thousand, for they had many wives and sons.
