And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.


And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Al´pheus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.


And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Al´pheus, and Thad´de-us, and Simon the Canaanite,


And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.


Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,


and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscar´i-ot, which also was the traitor.


Then said Thomas, which is called Did´ymus, unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.


But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Did´ymus, was not with them when Jesus came.


And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Al´pheus, and Simon Zelo´tes, and Judas the brother of James.


And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:


But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.


and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.


James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, Greeting.
