I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.


And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.


A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.


But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.


Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.


Before destruction the heart of man is haughty; and before honor is humility.


Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.


Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.


And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.


For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.


The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.


The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.


When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.


And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?


He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.


For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.


And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.


It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.


He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.


Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.


Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:


Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:


Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mor´decai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
