My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;


They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.


The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:


I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.


The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.


when he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

Therefore thus saith the Lord of the men of An´athoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hand:


For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.


And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord.


Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.


And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.


And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.


And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people; for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.


For neither did his brethren believe in him.


And the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.


And when Gal´li-o was the deputy of Achai´a, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
