Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.


Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.


seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.


Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,


that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:


And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.


My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.


What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?


Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
