For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.


For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Ba´al.


For the Lord of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Ba´al.


But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.


Is there iniquity in Gil´e-ad? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.


And E´phra-im said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labors they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.


Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the Lord shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.


And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.


According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.


And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.


For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Ba´al.


For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:


As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.


Because E´phra-im hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.


They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.


Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.


For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.


Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.


For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
