but the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:


Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphra´tes, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.


From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphra´tes, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.


So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.


And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.


And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Per´izzite, the Hivite, and the Jeb´usite, heard thereof;


saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphra´tes.
