And Haman said unto king Ahasue´rus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.


Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?


Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed´nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.


and whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.


Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed´nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnez´zar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.


Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed´nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.


Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed´nego, in the province of Babylon.


Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.


Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him.


whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.


saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
