Now Jonathan and Ahim´a-az stayed by En–ro´gel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.


And Jo´ab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king's son is dead.


One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,


The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahim´a-az thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abi´athar.
