For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, being enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.


This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.


But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.


as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves [after] the former lusts, [as you did in ]your ignorance;


Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;


and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. [They are ]bold, self-willed, illustrious persons, they do not tremble at blaspheming,


For when they speak haughty [words] of emptiness, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, those who are escaping from those who are living in error,
