So I was angry, and I swore (promised)\par they would not enter my land of rest.\par


I made another promise to those people in the desert. I promised that I would not bring them into the land I was giving them. That was a good land filled with many good things. {\cf2\super [142]} It was the most beautiful of all countries!


The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, “How long will these people continue to turn against me? They show that they don’t trust me. They show that they don’t believe in my power. They refuse to believe me, even after I have shown them many powerful signs. I have done many great things among them.


But, I tell you the truth. As surely as I live and as surely as my power fills the whole earth, I make you this promise!


I made a promise to their ancestors. [186] I promised that I would give them that land. But none of these people who turned against me will ever enter that land!


You will die in this desert. Every person who is 20 years old or older and was counted as one of my people will die. You complained against me, the Lord.
