Every person who is counted must pay 1Ú2 shekel. (That is 1Ú2 shekel by the official measure. [299] This shekel weighs 20 gerahs. [300])This half shekel is an offering to the Lord.


More than 2 tons [441] of gold was given as an offering to the Lord for his holy place. (This was weighed using the official measure. [442])


A shekel {\cf2\super [435]} must equal 20 gerahs. A mina must equal 60 shekels. It must be equal to 20 shekels plus 25 shekels plus 15 shekels.


“You must use the official measure [465] in paying those prices. The shekel by that measure weighs 20 gerahs. [466]
