Numbers 17:8 - Easy To Read Version

8 The next day Moses entered the Tent. He saw that Aaron’s walking stick, the stick from the family of Levi, was the one that had grown new leaves. That walking stick had even grown branches and made almonds.

At that time, the Lord’s plant (Judah) will be very beautiful and great. The people still living in Israel will be very proud of the things the land grows.


“Then the other trees will know that\par I make tall trees fall to the ground,\par and I make small trees grow tall.\par I make green trees become dry,\par and I make dry trees become green.\par I am the Lord.\par If I say that I will do something,\par then I will do it!”\par


But the vine was pulled up by the roots,\par and thrown down to the ground.\par The hot east wind blew and dried its fruit.\par The strong branches broke.\par And they were thrown into the fire.\par


A fire started in the large branch\par and spread to destroy all of its\par vines and fruit.\par So there was no strong walking stick.\par There was no king’s scepter.’ {\cf2\super [137]} \par


Then Moses said to Korah and all his followers, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show which person truly belongs to him. The Lord will show which person is truly holy. And the Lord will bring that person near to him. The Lord will choose that man, and the Lord will bring that man near to him.


I will choose one man to be the true priest. You will know which man I choose because his walking stick will begin to grow new leaves. In this way, I will stop the people from always complaining against you and me.”


So Moses brought out all the sticks from the Lord’s place. Moses showed the walking sticks to the people of Israel. They all looked at the sticks, and each man took his own stick back.


In the Most Holy Place was a golden altar {\cf2\super [94]} for burning incense. {\cf2\super [95]} And also there was the Holy Box of the Agreement. {\cf2\super [96]} The box was covered with gold. Inside this box was a golden jar of manna {\cf2\super [97]} and Aaron’s rod (stick)—the rod that once grew leaves. Also in the box were the flat rocks \{with the Ten Commandments\} of the old agreement \{written on them\}.
