Luke 7:16 - Easy To Read Version

16 All the people were filled with fear. They began praising God and said, “A great prophet {\cf2\super [129]} has come to us!” And they said, “God is taking care of his people.”

You take care of the land.\par You water it and make it grow things.\par God, you fill the streams with water\par and make the crops grow.\par


The people believed that God had sent Moses. The people of Israel knew that God had seen their troubles, and that he had come to help them. So they bowed down and worshiped God.


Then Jerusalem will be a wonderful place. People will be happy. And people from other nations will praise it. This will happen at the time those people hear about the good things happening there. They will hear about the good things I am doing for Jerusalem.


People were amazed when they saw that people that could not speak were able to speak again. Crippled people were made strong again. People that could not walk were able to walk again. The blind were able to see again. All the people thanked the God of Israel (the Jews) for this.


The many people following Jesus answered, “This man is Jesus. He is the prophet {\cf2\super [284]} from the town of Nazareth in Galilee.”


So the women left the tomb {\cf2\super [442]} quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell his followers what happened.


The people saw this and they were amazed. The people praised God for giving power like this to people.


And all their neighbors became afraid. In all the hill country of Judea people continued talking about all these things.


“Praise to the Lord God of Israel (the Jews).\par God has come to help his people\par and has given them freedom.\par


They will destroy you and all your people. Not one stone of your buildings will stay on top of another. All this will happen because you did not know the time when God came to save you.”


The shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything that they had seen and heard. It was just as the angel had told them.


Jesus said to them, “What are you talking about?”


All the people were fully amazed. They began to praise God. The people were filled with much respect \{for God’s power\}. They said, “Today we saw amazing things!”


Then the son sat up and began to talk. Jesus gave him to his mother.


The Pharisee that asked Jesus to come to his house saw this. He thought to himself, “If this man (Jesus) were a prophet, {\cf2\super [143]} he would know that the woman who is touching him is a sinner!”


All the people asked Jesus to go away. They were afraid.


The followers answered, “Some people say you are John the Baptizer. Other people say you are Elijah. {\cf2\super [167]} And some people say you are one of the prophets {\cf2\super [168]} from long ago that has come back to life.”


The Jews asked John, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah {\cf2\super [11]} ?”


These men said to John: “You say you are not the Christ. {\cf2\super [15]} You say you are not Elijah {\cf2\super [16]} or the Prophet. {\cf2\super [17]} Then why do you baptize {\cf2\super [18]} people?”


The woman said, “Sir, I can see that you are a prophet. {\cf2\super [64]}


The people saw this miracle {\cf2\super [84]} that Jesus did. The people said, “He must truly be the Prophet {\cf2\super [85]} that is coming into the world.”


The Jewish leaders asked the man again, “This man (Jesus) healed you, and you can see. What do you say about him?”


This is the same Moses that said these words to the Jewish people: ‘God will give you a prophet. {\cf2\super [139]} That prophet will come from among your own people. He will be like me.’ {\cf2\super [140]}


These believers praised God because of me.


The Lord your God will send to you a prophet. [120] This prophet will come from among your own people. He will be like me. You must listen to this prophet.
